Mustang headlight tab repair plastic weld
Переглядів 4,6 тис.5 років тому
Just a short clip on how I replaced the headlight tab. I had a busted parts light that I used the tab off of. Enjoy
Is this same process for non M 5 series 2011? I have a 2011 535i and I’m having trouble, after cutting the lens off, the internals didn’t come off
Yes it is. Yours looks identical?
@@pavmik1 very similar, few differences. Okay I was having trouble getting the “bezel” to come out with old plastic, but just got it off! Now just need to trim/peel the old adhesive then run to store to grab erathane and put new cover on. So far so good. Should I oven bake again before stripping out old adhesive? I do have cutter tool for use. Thanks In advance
@@khayyam947 you don’t necessarily have to, especially since you have a tool but you can try it out maybe it will make it a little easier. I just try to avoid putting a light in the oven as much as I can. In case I forget about it and I come to a melted pile of plastic lol
@@pavmik1 thanks for all your replies man. I’m 90% done stripping old adhesive off. New cover sits almost flush on assembly 😎 cheers man and thank you for the video and help
How long would it last
Cutting? Are you serious?
Oi manda o nome dessa máquina que senhor está cortando
Im following your process for my BMW headlights. I was able to remove the lens cover and now working to remove the old sealant. In relation to the staples you removed. Did you put them back in after you removed them or you left them out? A few of mine just broke off, so not sure I need them or not.
Hey, I just left them out. The silicone dries stiff
Thanks, this helps. Another question, you used silicone instead of Butyl tape (like others use). What was your reasoning for that. I bought butyle tape, but after watching your video I'm leaning towards the silicone. Any thoughts or insights is greatly appreciated.
Absolutely! I prefer the silicone because it sticks to pretty much anything. The butyl doesn't stick well to the old silicone that you cut out. @@qa054c
@@pavmik1 okay cool, so basically the butyle will eventually cause rework later on. I'll work to purchase the silicone.
Very good Very nice very great work 👍
Thank you
I can’t find you on instagram… I also don’t have instagram. Is there any other way to contact you. Please
nice work, thanks for sharing !
Thank you!
Thats rad
Nice! Thanks for sharing, I have a e60 which has condensation too
Hello would you be able to put a link for the best quality lens for the M5 F10
Looks great
That Sealant is for Glass, how well it works with plastic?
The adhesive on these newer ones is an absolute nightmare I found a drill works quite well😂
What’s the name of it
How did you drill it? Pls explain
Wow that is like 4K HD results
the perfect way to remove the lens is put that headlight to big oven and let it heat so the black glue will melt so you can remove it easily without breaking the old lens. i know it because im one of the employees who’s making headlights of different types of car
All, inner part for lens (not the lens) broken on mine, any idea on part number for this ? thanks in advance
Nice choice of music
Great finish, which spray gun were you using?
Hello
Where can I buy headlight lens for 2018 Acura RLX?? I need to replace mine. Thank you
Hi. Could you explain what you meant by 2 to 1 and why you had to different containers when you were showing the clear cost you were using. Also, if I get a paint gun, is it possible to use in for a mobile set up?
If I polished before spraying on the clear coat would that make the clear coat not stick?
It will orange peel or spider crack real bad.
Great job!! There's only one thing I would change? The clearcoat and the expensive spray gun? Why because did your clearcoat have UV protection? A must have for long term clarity, There are many quality clearcoats on the market with added UV protection but remember it must be written on the spray can and keep away from 2k clear!!! 😇👍🇬🇧
Need this at my local bodyshop. Got one light that is really foggy the other hardly touched.
Golf job👍
Good job👍
On 04:00 what happens if you plug the cable in but on different side?
haven't tried but I assume it wont work
@@pavmik1 thank you for reply
This is actually the safest and most non-destructive method of removing the lenses.
Great video thank you !
What type of clear coat did u apply on the headlight
Nah son Really said yeah ima just cut right through the lens to remove it and still ended up having to put it in the oven to remove the rest of the lense 😭😭😭 (not to mention it’s a bmw headlight 💀)
Awesome job
I was recommended to clearcoat a set of new headlights before I install them. So is it necessary to still sand the surface down and then spray clearcoat or can it just be sprayed directly on it. I was recommended this because the headlight lenses are known to fade easily.
are you able to replace the grey/silver lining on the inside? if so do you know the part name?
Great job
Thanks!
damn, sorry. was wrapping the whole in foil suppose to be a joke or what?
Can i use a 2k can clearcoat ? i dont have any spraypaint tools, but im paint good
Hi, I’m sure you can! Shouldn’t be a problem
@@pavmik1 do you recomend 1 layer or 2 coats ?
How long lasting will this be?
Brand new is $1000+ my friend
I've always known that clear coating looks much better than buffing, but these look fantastic. Pretty sure on my next flip car imma break out my old paint gun and do this trick.
Heck yea!
is there a spray can version of this kinda stuff?
You did an absolutely great job on your car. It would be a reference though!
Thanks!!
Instead of using the dish soap and water can I use some rubbing alcohol?
I’m sure that’s fine
Any glass cleaner spray will do as they all contain a little alcohol!!
Looks really nice! I'm interested in how well it has held up over the years. 2000 grit is pretty fine for a paintable surface...not much for the clear coat to bite onto.
Thanks! I'm not sure because I haven't seen the customer since. But I've done the same on my cars and its lasted for years. I don't go too long with the 2000. It ends up being around 1500 when I'm done. I just didn't have any 1500 at the moment.
@@pavmik1 I've got a truck that I'm fixing up. This is going to be part of that. I was just wondering..don't want to screw it up. :)
@@jasonerb2577 you got this! Good luck:)
@@pavmik1 I'm wondering if it's necessary to go that high of a grit. To paint a car only requires 600 grit. Is there a reason to go that high on a headlight? Have you done any that you stopped at 600?
Here's a video from an auto body painter that uses k600 and k800 grit which he says is the equivalent of 320 and 500 grit and that's all he uses before using 2k rattle can Eastwood clearcoat. ua-cam.com/video/Xubwpeuqm-E/v-deo.html
Are you f**king serious 😅🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 You get a heat gun and remove the glue. DO NOT DO THIS TO YOUR CAR
you clearly have no idea about life.
Wanna use alcohol instead of water and dish soap. , dish soap can act funny with the clear sometimes depending on residue.
Hello there, I would gladly pay you to do this for me, I have a set of these exact headlights that I'd like the lenses replaced on. How can I contact you besides ig? I only have UA-cam, tictok, and email
Great job looks brand new ,I tried and got some runs ,what was the spray gun set up and did you add reducer to the clear coat?
Thanks! I don’t remember but I’ve been spraying about 26psi lately but I move quickly. Been getting really good results. I did not add any reducer
Fantastic job!
Why did you cut it, you had to heat it, it would be completely removed
Damn, that looks incredible. Too much equipment is required for the average person
